WYNWOOD MULTIFAMILY

MIAMI, FLORIDA

This project began with the partnership of an urban developer and a local real estate investor with an appreciation for architectural heritage. The project brief asked to create a 24-unit apartment building that respects its context (Wynwood Norte), adds long-term value to the neighborhood, and proves that good design is part of a smart investment strategy.

The result derived from a careful study of the Wynwood Norte Community Vision Plan, walking the streets and listening to local voices. The new building will be one of the first to be developed under the latest update to the City of Miami zoning code, which densified the area and lowered parking requirements to promote economic development and walkability.

The neighborhood’s existing architecture, its scale and character, along with the site’s proximity to the Bakehouse Art Complex (former American Bakeries Plant designed by Robert L. Weed in 1926), became the inspiration for several design features, including the paint pattern, color accents, roofline, and material details such as breezeblocks.
